ABOUT

Our Story

Wellington Country Park’s carp fishing syndicate was established by Laurie Tucker in 2001.

The lake soon became renowned for its exceptional stock of large carp, including an impressive number of fish exceeding 50lb. It regularly featured in leading angling publications, including Carp World and Carp Talk.

Over the years, many respected anglers have fished its banks and captured some of its now-historic carp. Today, Wellington Country Park continues to produce outstanding fish and is currently home to seven carp weighing more than 50lb.

Our Fish

The carp at Welly come in a variety of shapes and sizes, although the highly distinctive Belgian Blue, heart-tailed mirrors remain among the most sought-after fish in the lake.

The former lake record was held by Scruffy Bob, a truly remarkable fish that is sadly no longer with us. Two of the lake’s current residents, The Pretty Mirror and Willow, regularly come close but have never yet passed the 60lb mark.

The Pretty Sutton, considered by many syndicate members to be one of the finest fish in the lake, now regularly exceeds 50lb, having first surpassed the 50lb mark in 2024.
